Who I am, and who I am not

Treadnotes is an independent site. I am not a shop: nothing is sold from here, no order is taken here, and no stock is mine. I am not owned by, connected with or endorsed by any retailer or manufacturer named on this site, and the names of those brands are used only to say whose shoes and whose technologies I am describing.

Where the money comes from

The site carries no advertising and no sponsored posts. If a shoe on this site links to a shop and you buy it, the shop may pay me a percentage. That is the whole of it.

Those links run through affiliate networks rather than arrangements with individual retailers, which means the same terms apply to every shop in the list and none of them can buy a better position by asking.

What it does not buy

No retailer and no manufacturer decides which shoes appear here, what is written about them, or the order they come in. Nobody sees a page before it is published. The technologies are explained from what the maker claims and what the shoe does — including the parts that are marketing, which I say plainly.

I do not take payment for a good word. If a shoe has a drawback, it is in the write-up whether or not the link earns anything.

How to tell

Any page that carries commission-earning links says so at the top of the list, before you reach the links themselves. The notice appears automatically wherever such a link exists, so it cannot be left off a page by accident — and it does not appear on pages without one.

Prices

Prices are checked on a schedule and each one carries the date it was last verified. A price can change between that date and the moment you click, and the shop's own page is always the one that counts.
